On Nov. 20, France's Charles Pag?s crashed while attempting a front flip during an FMX exhibition at the Paris Bercy Supercross. Pag?s, a 2009 X Games Best Trick competitor, over-rotated the flip, slamming head-first into the dirt on the landing. Following the crash, Pag?s was admitted to the Creteil Hospital, outside Paris.
According to statements published by Pag?s' manager, S?b Billault, on the website Pag?s shares with his brother Thomas (also a professional FMX rider), Pag?s was placed in a medically induced coma for stabilization purposes and underwent a series of tests. He was taken out of the coma on Wednesday, has opened his eyes and said a few words, but he remains in intensive care at Creteil Hospital.
Pag?s originally landed the front flip in May 2009 and is currently one of only four riders in the world who have successfully ridden away from the trick. He was performing in Bercy alongside his brother Thomas, fellow Frenchman Jey Rouanet, and X Games riders Andre Villa, Eigo Sato, Taka Higashino and Dany Torres. The Paris Bercy Supercross is one of the largest events of its kind in Europe.
